As many of you know, our Standard and CalcZAF applications can utilize compounds to model and correct secondary fluorescence boundary effects. This capability requires manual downloading of the Penepma2012 package from our web site. Directions for installing Penepma 2012 and the Penepma12.ZIP file are available here:
http://probesoftware.com/download/PENEPMA12.ZIP
Probe Software is continuing to calculate new compounds and these are available in the following link:

Edit by John: New compounds calculated 10/10/2013
Ok, just for the record I think I've calculated all the standard compounds I'm going to pre-calculate for now.
If a material you need for modeling matrix corrections or secondary boundary fluorescence artifacts is not in the list below, then you should create the PAR file yourself following the instructions here:
http://smf.probesoftware.com/index.php?topic=58.msg214#msg214
The current Compounds.zip file is available in several locations, for example here:
http://www.probesoftware.com/download/Compounds.zip
and the complete list of already calculated compounds follows here...

Hi John,
This is Sheri, a grad student at UNM. Before I go calculating my own PAR file, I want to make sure that there isn't already one I can use. I'm looking at ~1 micron inclusions of Fe,Ni metal in a pyrrhotite grain. I see the lovely pyrrhotite file, but I only see FeNiCr and NiFe alloy for the Fe,Ni metal. I'm guessing these inclusions are kamacite-like (90% Fe, 10% Ni). How do these two PAR files compare to what I'm looking for? Thanks!

Hi Sheri,
FYI: Mike should create a "lab membership" for the probe computer and save the password for that and keep his membership for himself. That way you can log on and ask questions as you just did without using his membership. No big deal though.
Since it is easy enough to try the existing PAR files you should just start with that. If there is a problem it should be clear from that. If it looks like there is a SF problem, then go ahead and calculate the actual kamacite composition PAR file. It only takes 10 hours.
The Penepma12.zip distribution has been updated to include the pure element PAR files recalculated at 7200 sec/keV (x10) or 20 hours per element for 94 elements and at 14400 sec/keV or 40 hours per element for about half the periodic table at this point.
The latest Penepma12.zip can be downloaded and extracted manually from here:
http://probesoftware.com/download/PENEPMA12.ZIP
or simply use the update menu in CalcZAF or Probe for EPMA as described here:
