Hello,
Our probe lab (if funding wont just drain out dry till that moment) is planned to be relocated as building is planned to have general renovation.
SX100 and SXFiveFE will need to be relocated from current 2nd floor down to ground floor of the same building or to the building nearby. I am currently starting to look what options we have. The situation is absolutely crazy (as crazy could get in public funded University). There are no "goods" elevator in the building, but only "personal" elevator where one has 300 kg capacity and other 500 kg capacity. There is plan to construct elevators with 1200 kg capacity, but the place of planned elevator overlaps our current lab, thus moving probe with help of elevator in full assembled WDS spectrometers is rather out of option.
So my main question is: how much Column Chassis part of probe weights, after dismantling all WDS spectrometers, HV tank, Bottom part of column, optical camera/CL assembly? Is there more convenient options to temporary remove for weight reduction (to get below 500 kg)?
Please, anyone who had experience with relocating your SX50/SX100's chime-in with your experience.
I hope you are finding some resolution with this that's not too disruptive! The only information I have is the total weight of two SX-100s shipped via ocean freight in four crates was 2340 kg.
Thanks, Wonachlas,
I hope I will find the resolution too :) . The moving probably is going to be in second half of this year. It seems to me that it is possible to dismantle probe into pieces which weight less than 500kg - which will allow to use elevator. The most worrisome part is that elevator.
