Title: adding oxford instruments Ultim Max detector
Post by: Ben Buse on July 09, 2024, 08:28:32 AM
Hi

Has anyone added an Oxford Ultim Max detector to DTSA-II and what parameters did then use?

Thanks

I've added the Ultim Max 170 detector befoer, here're parameters I used:

1.Elevation angle
2.Working distance
3.Sample-to-detector distance
4.Detector area
5.Thickness
6.Window

I think you may want to check "Configuring instruments and detectors" from DTSA documentation, there're more details https://www.cstl.nist.gov/div837/837.02/epq/dtsa2/DTSA-II_Configuration.pdf

The most important parameters are listed in the document that ZhaiQ references.

1. Take-off angle
2. Optima working distance
3. Window type
4. Detector Area
5. Distance from sample to detector

The first two are important for quant.  The later ones are more important for simulation.   The remainder are less critical.

That's good because have no idea the detector information for some of the others - like window and detector coatings.

I'm sure someone at the detector vendor does but I've never been able to pry this information out of them.  They seem to view coatings and dead-layers as trade secrets.
