Hello DTSA-II users,
I created a repository with some script templates for TEM foils: https://github.com/lukmuk/eds-simulation-scripts-DTSA (https://github.com/lukmuk/eds-simulation-scripts-DTSA)
Hopefully this is useful to some of you! :)
For the "doping" scripts: Please double-check the (normalized) stoichiometry of the samples. I hope there are no errors, as I performed some code gymnastics to build at%/mol% scripts besides wt%. For some reason, the TEM world mostly avoids anything related to wt% in my experience.
I hope to add less boring sample geometries and scripts in the future to the repo.
Kind regards,
lukmuk
Thank you for contributing this.
Hello Nicholas,
maybe a related question for this thread: I added a custom.csv "detector window" for the widely used windowless SuperX-SDD by FEI/TFS. I copied the detector efficiency curve from Fig. 4b here (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/281539024_Nanoscale_chemical_compositional_analysis_with_an_innovative_STEM-EDX_system), but it is actually the full detector efficiency instead of only the window transmission (the latter I could not find).
If I set this custom.csv in the detector config, would you recommend setting the SDD thickness to some arbitrary higher number such as 5 mm? As I understand, a SDD config with the default 0.45 mm and my custom.csv "window" may "double" the drop-off effect after around 10 keV (?).
Thank you for any help!
Kind regards,
lukmuk
Increasing the thickness seems like a good idea. 5 mm would be enough or you could go higher.
Great, thank you!
I increased the Si thickness to 10 mm (as you note, more will not hurt) and after a restart of DTSA it works as expected.
I will add the info to the repository.
