PC-EPMA and EDS standardisation

Folks!
We have a JEOL EDS detector that lends itself not to integration with PfEPMA. We are all pretty familiar with the JEOL manuals. They are poorly written, inexplicit and turgid. The standard set ups for ED analysis using PC-EPMA need updating and adding to, and I am struggling to make head or tail of these wretched manuals. Has anyone some simple instructions, idiot-proof and fool-proof to enable me easy to set up the standards without stuffing everything up.
