What's the best way to re-bin pixels? Is it best done in surfer https://support.goldensoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/226628167-Resample-resize-or-crop-a-grid-file-in-Surfer or does Pfe do this? I looking to reduce the number of pixels to remove noise.

I think this is best performed in Surfer.

By default the GRD output in CalcImage is 1 pixel per pixel simply because we don't want to make any assumptions about the data.  But you can either over sample (smooth) or under sample (weighted average) the GRD points in an image:

In Probe for EPMA when exporting random points to Surfer for gridding one can specify the grid density, because these points could be randomly distributed:

Using the weighted averaging method options one can specify the rules for calculating the output grid point based on the surrounding grid points.
The only stupid question is the one not asked!
