Hi all,

We built a new lab with an empty bookshelf in the foyer.  We are seeking to fill the shelf with books that are either useful or nice-looking. Can anybody recommend some must-have reference or educational books for x-ray microanalysis, or else some classic titles with historical significance? Bonus if leatherbound and musty, but new titles are also okay.

Cheers,
Jason

Both excellent titles. Definitely on the list. Thanks for the reply

I'm a big fan of Cullity's Elements of X-ray diffraction, in no small part because the second edition was published with a fake leather and gold type cover.  Class.  (its also a good read....)

I'm a big fan of Electron Microprobe Analysis and Scanning Electron Microscopy in Geology  by S.J.B. Reed.

Keeps things nice and simple for us geologists and is a gentle introduction for everyone else.

This book is excellent.  It's a pleasurable read (ha, ha!) for all, and not expensive in paperback.  I always suggest it to students in my class when they ask for a reference.
The only stupid question is the one not asked!
