New Features in Probe Image

The flyer mentioned below is more about "current" features in Probe Image, but this topic is reserved for feature requests and announcements in Probe Image.

The latest version of Probe Image (v. 1.2.2) can now be launched automatically from Probe for EPMA (v. 11.06) from the Automate! window after the point automation completes.

This is useful for when one wants to acquire standards and/or unknown points and then subsequently perform x-ray mapping in Probe Image.



Note that one must specify the Probe Image acquisition file (*.PrbAcq) in the Automate! window as seen above (which can be manually saved or loaded from the Probe Image File menu), and optionally the user can specify a sample setup to be loaded just prior to launching Probe Image for x-ray mapping (column conditions can also be specified in the Probe Image Setup | Acquisition).

Once Probe Image acquires and automatically saves all maps, it will close and return control to Probe for EPMA where it can set the filament to standby mode if that option was selected.

For this new automation feature you will need to update both Probe Image and Probe for EPMA.

If you want to use this PI mapping automation from PFE feature, please update PFE again as I found a small bug that could affect things.  It works really nice now.

Hi Malcolm,
I understand.

But if you click the Conditions tab in an image window in Probe Image, you will see the HFW and VFW values for the width and height of the image in um:

At last I have something nice to post following your requests, Here is an Al map of a magmatic epidote mantle around allanite.... The core is very impressively zoning under the optical microscope and some of my other maps show why... This one will do for starters......

Here are the new options for JEOL 8900/8200/8500 instruments in the Column Conditions tab of the scan acquisition setup dialog:



JEOL 8230/8530 instruments automatically set the beam to spot mode when performing a stage scan so that is why I raised this question:

The latest version (1.3.0) of Probe Image has improved GUI layouts in the Setup | Acquisition dialog and new menus in the File menu.

Hi John,

Just tried your new Convert Jeol maps to probe image format. Very good and easy to use.

Below is a Jeol polygon map with positive and negative background maps - converted to probe image for calcimage to quantifiy.
